‘The one wish the team and I share is to return to the competition at some point’

Dani Albiar explains his daily routine during coronavirus pandemic and hopes that the competition could safely resume.

The fate of the Third Division and other major divisions remains up in the air as the deadly coronavirus bug continues to sweep the globe. The Almeria B players were getting involved in a virtual training session from their homes as they self-isolate, when suddenly Dani Albiar stopped training. He spared a few minutes to talk to the club's official media and stated ‘the one wish the team and I share is to return to the competition at some point. If we cannot complete the fixtures then it would not be fair considering promoting or relegating anybody.’

The homegrown player made it clear that ‘health and wellbeing always come first’. At the end of the day, health is much more important than football. It would not be the best idea to speed up the deadlines to start the season when our safety and that of our fans cannot be guaranteed’, he added.

It is possible that group IX of the Third Division do not continue competing, despite the fact that the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation) wants to do so. It will depend on the Spanish Government’s decisions regarding Covid-19. That is why Dani Albiar spoke about what would be 'the fairest' when deciding the table: ‘If there are no more competitions going on, I believe that the fairest thing would be taking into account only the first-round results because every team played with each other once. Also, the young midfielder declared that ‘no one knows what is going to happen yet’. He concluded by saying that ‘the best option would definitely be finishing the tournament in order to avoid problems’.
