The Fourth LaLiga Genuine Santander season gets underway!

The UD Almería Foundation team will participate in the tournament again this 2021/2022 campaign

The LaLiga Foundation officially presented the 2021/22 LaLiga Genuine Santander season last Wednesday morning. It will be the fourth edition of this tournament, which is packed with fresh news, more teams than ever —including UD Almeria Genuine— and the human values ​​and powerful emotions that characterise this exciting competition. LaLiga President Javier Tebas;  Director General of Commercial Banking of Santander España Ángel Rivera; LaLiga Genuine Santander Ambassador Vicente Del Bosque and former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas hosted this event as they were in charge of welcoming back the 42 clubs participating this season.

Javier Tebas took the opportunity to highlight the sheer excitement that the return of LaLiga Genuine entails: ‘Today we inaugurate the fourth edition of LaLiga's most special project: LaLiga Genuine Santander. A new season in which we’ll feel burning enthusiasm of Genuine football again, but in which there’s something that won’t change: the importance of sharing before competing…that continues to be the essence of LaLiga Genuine Santander, the league of sports values, inclusion, camaraderie, enthusiasm and sportsmanship. A league that highlights the great human quality of all its participants.’

For his part, General Manager of Commercial Banking at Santander España Ángel Rivera, emphasised the Spanish bank’s absolute commitment to this project: ‘Banco Santander are greatly delighted to sponsor this initiative that integrates social responsibility and is a pioneer in the world, organised by LaLiga Foundation. This collaboration is one more example of Banco Santander's full commitment to society. Supporting projects that promote inclusion always provides the Banco Santander team with immense satisfaction.’

Likewise, Sporting de Gijón players Rosalía Fernández and Sandra García; and Nàstic de Tarragona players Rubén Almazán and Álvaro Cano, represented all the players in the competition. Four stars from LaLiga Genuine Santander who told all the news that this upcoming season will bring, as well as the fixture list presentation that will be split into 3 phases to be held in 5 sports venues.

For instance, the creation of a new competition group was explained to promote the balance of the competition and adapt to its unstoppable growth: Respeto (respect) group joins the other two that already exist, Compañerismo (Companionship) and Deportividad (Sportsmanship).

Meanwhile, former Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas spoke about the clinic for LaLiga Genuine Santander goalkeepers, another major project that will be launched during the 2021/22 season.

All those present at the event danced the official Haka of the competition as a finishing touch to encourage the attendees to try out LaLiga Genuine Santander’s best moves!
