The event took place at the Adolfo Suárez de Hijate Auditorium in the presence of the President of the Diputacion de Almeria, Javier Aureliano.

The Women's team of the Fundación UD Almeria F has received the Sport Medal on the Day of the Province for its brilliant sports career since its creation -about a year and a half ago- until today. This event has taken place this Sunday, 24th November at 11 am at the Adolfo Suárez Auditorium in the town of Hijate (Alcóntar).

Hijate has commemorated this special day and the following were awarded: The Gold Medal for the former public prosecutor Fernando Brea; the ‘Culture’ Medal for Asafal; the ‘Social’ Medal for Verdiblanca; and the ‘Sport’ Medal for the UDA Women's team.

The women’s team has been awarded for its brilliant 2018-2019 season in which they achieved 29 victories and 32 draws in the category Segunda Andaluza Sénior de Almería. The team won two championships, Copa Diputación and Liga Provincial. Currently, the team plays in a higher category, Group IV of the First National Division, in which 12 teams from Andalusia and Extremadura compete.

The president of the Diputación de Almería, Javier Aureliano, has given the award to the President of the Fundacion UD Almería, Lorena García, and has handed over the province's flag to the mayor of Alcóntar. Lorena García has thanked for this award and explained that ‘the Fundacion UD Almería was created two years ago with the aim of giving everyone the chance to wear the representative t-shirt of Almeria: men, women, adults, young people, with or without disabilities, both physical and intellectual’. She also thanked the players and the coaching staff for their effort and dedication and regretted that they could not attend the event because they were playing the match against CD Badajoz, corresponding to the 11th matchday of the league.
