Samú Costa: We must believe that we can beat Atlético de Madrid

The UD Almería midfielder shares his thoughts on the season to date and recognises the rivals' great potential, but specifies that his team is not going to play the victim at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium

UD Almería midfielder Samú Costa sat down with the Club's official media to share his thoughts on the season to date and on Sunday's fixture at the Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium. The Lusitanian made it clear: 'We must believe that we can beat Atlético de Madrid; we know it's very complicated but not impossible. We've already beaten FC Barcelona, who have only been defeated by Real Madrid CF and us so far.'

The Aveiro-born footballer stresses that they cannot go to Madrid playing the victim and points out: 'Atlético de Madrid are the best team of the moment in the league. The truth is that they're a great team, and on top of that, they've got amazing fans and we're going to play on a spectacular stage. All this has to motivate us, especially after our victory against Valencia CF.'

Samú Costa also underlined: 'We're scoring goals away from home, we scored two against Sevilla FC, another two against Celta de Vigo... now we have to focus on trying not to concede any and have a solid defence because we know what we have to do with the ball.' On that note, he added the following: 'We have to go out onto the pitch without complexes and concentrated because Atlético can attack in many different ways and they're strong on set-pieces.'

The 22-year-old midfielder did not speculate on the survival chances. 'There's still a long way to go. All remaining matches are vital and we have to think only about the imminent one. We wouldn't have to dramatise either if we were to fall into the bottom three again. This is going to be a real fight until the end,' indicated the interviewee.

Samú Costa valued positively 'the togetherness and the great atmosphere in the dressing room, regardless of the results. Here the objective is the same for everyone.'

'I feel good and self-confident. I always work with humility to give one hundred percent and be able to help the team, which is truly important,' the UD Almería defensive midfielder concluded.
