Chumi: We have to play a good game to be able to score points in Cádiz

The UD Almería central defender speaks on UDA Radio about the difficulties of Saturday's game, but has full confidence in UD Almería

'We'll have to play a good game to be able to score points in Cádiz,' stated UD Almería central defender Chumi as he caught up with UDA Radio, the Club's official radio station. 'We're going to face rivals who are always hard to overcome as they play a direct game by crossing many balls into the box and taking advantage of second balls. We'll have to be very focused on every moment,' explained Chumi.

Chumi has full confidence in UD Almería. In fact, he pointed out: 'On the last Matchday against Real Madrid CF, we plucked up the courage, we created chances and we were close to being able to get something positive out of the game.' He then added: 'It's true that we haven't collected any points yet, but in the two previous games played, we've shown that we have a lot of quality and it's a matter of time before the good results arrive.'

The continuous moves within the squad  influences their game, but as the footballer commented: 'The transfer window is open and we're now used to these kinds of situations.' When asked about Vicente Moreno's UD Almería, he replied: 'He's a head coach who likes his team having the ball and control of the matches regardless of the opponents that you have in front. We've only played two matches and we have to give time for the team to grasp the concepts, but it looks very good.'

The Galician footballer is one of those who has been at the Club the longest; he now celebrates his fourth season as a Rojiblanco and has no doubts when it comes to saying: 'We played in the play-offs, then we earned automatic promotion, we secured Primera División status… This project will continue to grow and we'll surely do much better.'

Regarding the kick-off of the next fixture against Cádiz CF being delayed 90 minutes, the 24-year-old stated: 'We're used to training in the sweltering heat, but there are certain hours when the temperatures are impossible to cope with. It isn't the same to play at a feels-like temperature of 36º than 30º. The minutes go by, there is more dehydration and the fatigue is noticeable.'

Chumi has played as a central defender along with Babić, Rodrigo Ely and now with Édgar: 'The former two Rojiblancos were true aerial threats and were more defenders, while Édgar starts more counter-attacks and dribbles past opponents to move the ball forward as he did at Real Betis, but the guidelines for the defenders are practically the same.'
