Nico Melamed: 'We must focus on CD Tenerife and not on what happens in Santander'

The UD Almería attacking midfielder explains: 'I'm not hiding anything. I spent a few games without reaching my best, so I worked on myself to change that situation. Now I feel very confident and I know this is the best moment of the season to show it.'

UD Almería player Nico Melamed has caught up with UDA Radio, including the ban imposed after the match in Cádiz that kept him out for 2 matches. 'I don't behave like that. I didn't know how to handle the pressure of the moment and it was the result of the frustration I felt. I've lived these past 2 weeks with the tension of just another fan.'

'The squad is excited, with the greatest possible ambition, and knowing that we've fought to make it depend on ourselves. We have a game, a final on Sunday, that we have to approach taking into account the importance of reaching a potential play-off in the best possible way,' the Castelldefels native said.

Another topic discussed during the interview was his personal journey this season: 'I'm not hiding anything. I went through a series of matches without reaching my best so I worked on myself to change that situation. Now I feel comfortable, very confident and I know this is the best moment of the season to prove it.'

The young UD Almería attacking midfielder acknowledged the importance of moving up a tier in every sense: 'When you enter the play-offs, you enter a separate competition where everyone gives it their all. We must understand that promotion changes life for many players, for the city and the Club.'

'I've only thought about the moment we earn promotion. I've seen images of the previous promotion with my team-mates celebrating… I don't really care about the opponents because I know they're all going to play a demanding game,' the 24-year-old concluded.
