Rubi: 'We must demonstrate the attacking power that we usually have'

The UD Almería head coach is committed to developing the team's scoring ability ahead of the match against Racing de Ferrol and warns: 'They don't let their opponents create many chances, they're very well worked on a defensive level'

UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' was at the Stadium press room hours before heading to Ferrol to delve deeper into the penultimate fixture of the first half of the season. The Catalan reflected on the opportunity to top the table if they get the three points and Racing de Santander, who occupy the first position, do not win: 'It's a feasible possibility, but we've approached it very differently than what you may be thinking. We're interested in leaving Ferrol with 38 points, whether we're leaders or not, it doesn't matter. There's time to fight all those things and it isn't going to be easy.'

The Catalan began to comment on the opponents of the weekday Matchday by saying: 'I'm clear that they're going through a tough patch in some positions due to injuries, also that they'll have many possibilities of staying up in the Segunda division, because they know the tier perfectly and they know a lot about football.'

Rubi emphasised the difficulties of the match and highlighted that the adversaries have just won at El Molinón Stadium: 'We have a very challenging match ahead of us, Racing de Ferrol concede very few goals, they've kept three consecutive clean sheets and they also seem to me to be a very spirited team. Funnily enough they won two consecutive games against Elche CF and FC Cartagena; Now they come from winning in a very complicated venue such as the Sporting de Gijón field. 'They're reinforced by that victory and by the commitment they're showing.'

In addition, Rubi continued to highlight some of the strengths of the Ferrolanos: 'They make their opponents have few goal-scoring opportunities, they're very well worked on a defensive level and also as a positive characteristic in their attack they start plays and can finish them off.'

The Vilassar de Mar native concluded by revealing what he believes will happen in the match: 'We're going to go with the intention of having the ball, therefore they're also going to want to catch us in some transitions. Knowing that it's a game, in principle, with few scoring opportunities, we must demonstrate that attacking power that we usually have.'
