Rubi: 'We have the ability to fight back'

The UDA head coach values the 3-1 victory against Elche CF, recognising: 'I don't like to start trailing so soon,' although he points out that this side is used to coming back from behind to get points

UD Almería head coach Rubi shared his post-Elche thoughts at the Martínez Valero press room after his side managed to come back from behind one more week. 'Elche CF had a great start to the game while we struggled. They have perhaps taken the lead in the least clear situation. We gained momentum at the end of the first half and we were threatening before half-time. In the second, we've been very good at dominating, controlling and not having scored any of the clear chances we have had was a shame,'  assessed the Catalan head coach.

'This victory means a lot because we won against a great team, we're at their electric best. On the other hand, it means almost nothing. This tier is very tough this season, we're talking about ten or twelve teams that are aspiring to get up there. It's a small step and many have to be made.'

The Vilassar de Mar native acknowledged that he expected more from his team in the early stages of the match, but highlighted his team's ability to fight back: 'I was confident in a better start to the game, we were very timid at the beginning. It's also true that we're used to coming back, hopefully one day that won't be the case. It affects me a lot because I don't like to start trailing so soon, but we know that we have the ability to fight back '
