Embarba: We have people behind us who suffer from it like us and it hurts them
The UD Almería right-winger recounts on UDA Radio the meeting with a group of fans at the airport after returning from Seville and promises to bounce back with fighting spirit
After the match at the Sánchez Pizjuan stadium and as soon as the plane landed in Almería, several players held a meeting with a group of fans who had gone to the airport to show their dissatisfaction after the severe drubbing at the hands of Sevilla FC. Embarba, who was the first to approach them, told UDA Radio the following: 'They were looking for explanations and we apologised because we hadn't won the previous games either even though we put in better performances on the pitches; they were hurt because 'Everything was different in Seville and they didn't feel identified with what they saw from us before.'
The 31-year-old attacking player highlights that if the fans showed up there it was 'because it hurts them and that, given that the negative situation, is good because they do it with strong feelings and that means that we have people behind us who suffer as much as we do and that it hurts them.'
Moreover, Embarba stressed: 'These are the supporters we want by our side so that by pulling together we can reach the desired goals.'
The self-criticism in the Rojiblancos' dressing room is real and in this regard, the footballer's words symbolise a declaration of intent: 'The most experienced players talked to them because we're fully aware of the situation and we represent a Club that wants to face the consequences. We were chatting and everything went well. They understood that we want to move forward. We told them that it's better that it happens to us now and not in May and that, together, we're capable because we know that we have enough quality for it and to continue growing with the Club. We can reverse the situation and we want to convey this to them.'
The message was clear and according to Embarba himself 'everything was done with respect and there were conversations to exchange different points of view.' In fact, the player commented: 'He shook hands because we're all in the same boat and we asked them to be with us because we're going to reverse the situation.'
UD Almería have now set their sights on the next and imminent home fixture against rivals Granada CF: 'We're on time because it's Matchday 7 and there is a lot of games left. On Sunday, we have a vital match and we must pull together to bag all three points and make it happen.'
