Rubi: 'We’ll be facing top opponents defensively'
The UD Almería head coach warns of Burgos CF’s impressive away form and underlines the difficulty of the challenge at the UDA Stadium
UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' assessed the upcoming clash with Burgos CF in his pre-match press conference, highlighting the visitors’ defensive strength and strong recent results. ‘They’re a very well-organised team with great defensive discipline. They’re difficult to beat and they’re in the upper part of the table because they’re doing things very well,’ he explained.
The Rojiblancos’ first-team boss stressed the need for caution ahead of the encounter. ‘They’ve won 5 of their last 6 away games. They’re very powerful in their own box, both because of the players they have and the work of their coaching staff. Crossing a lot doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to get a shot off,’ he warned.
Unusually, the Catalan confirmed a starting decision in advance, backing Aridane. ‘He’s going to play because he’s been the one who’s worked the hardest this week. He’s definitely our player. I’m nobody to tell the fans what to do, but it’s very simple: what do our rivals want? From there, the matter is settled,’ he stated.
Rubi also provided an update on squad news ahead of the match. ‘Chumi and Baptistão return to the squad compared to recent weeks. As well as Monte’s suspension, Bonini will also miss the game. A medical report will be issued shortly, but he won’t be available tomorrow or against Málaga CF,’ he concluded.
