Martin Šviderský picks up unfortunate ACL injury

The Slovakian midfielder will be operated on shortly by orthopaedic surgeon Pedro Luis Ripoll in Madrid

UD Almería midfielder Martin Šviderský suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, an unfortunate injury that he picked up while playing for UD Almeria ‘B’ against El Palo FC last Sunday. The Rojiblanco footballer will shortly be operated on by the prestigious orthopaedic trauma surgeon Pedro Luis Ripoll in Madrid.

The Vranov nad Topl’ou native joined the first-team training sessions, although he had been playing for UD Almería ‘B’, who compete in the Tercera RFEF (Group IX). The 20-year-old player has been named in the senior team’s teamsheets quite a few times, however the former Manchester Utd. Youth player has not made his UD Almeria debut with head coach Rubi in the dugout.

The UD Almería gaffer expressed his support for Šviderský and praised him for his daily hard work and total commitment in training: ‘He’s been helping us a lot on a day-to-day basis,’ said Rubi as he lamented the serious injury to the Slovakia U21 international.
