Doctors Pedro Luis Ripoll and Mariano de Prado, with the presence of UD Almería Head of medical services Diego Portugal have successfully operated on UD Almería striker Luis Suárez for a fibula fracture this Wednesday morning. The surgery was carried out at the Ripoll and De Prado Sport Clinic, FIFA Medical Center of Excellence, at the Quirón Hospital in Murcia city.
The 26-year-old player had followed conservative treatment for the last three months after the injury he picked up in his left leg during the match against Granada CF last October. His injury will keep him out of action for approximately four months.
Luis Suárez has undergone surgery for the fracture of the middle third of his left fibula. At the end of the operation, traumatologist Mariano de Prado highlighted that performing osteosynthesis surgery 'will considerably speed up the footballer's recovery period. These type of situations occur in a high percentage of fibula fractures that are treated conservatively, which is why the current trend is osteosynthesis.'
