Spanish Cup tie against Águilas FC to be played at 9pm on Tuesday, 30 November

UD Almeria will have to go on a short journey to play the club chaired by former UD Almeria owner Alfonso García

Águilas FC, a team that plays in the Second RFEF and chaired by Alfonso García, will be Almería's rival in the first round of the Copa del Rey, whose draw was held this Thursday in the Ciudad del Fútbol. This round is played as a single match in the field of the lower category team, so the rojiblancos will travel to the El Rubial stadium.

The first round tie will be played on Tuesday, 30th November (KO 9pm Spain Time) as the home team has proposed to the Spanish Football Federation. Before kicking off the Cup on UD Almería will be hosting SD Huesca on Saturday, 27th November and after the Spanish Cup tie, CD Leganés will be visited by the Rojiblancos on Saturday, 4th December.

UD Almería could have been drawn to rivals from other Spanish regions that are far away such as the Canary Islands, Basque Country, Galicia ... so playing in the neighbouring Murcia-based town of Águilas has been positive as it is quite close to Almeria city.

Águilas FC, a club chaired by Alfonso García, former owner of UD Almería, is a member of Group V within the Segunda Division RFEF. They currently sit 9th close to the promotion positions. The season began with former Rojiblanco Molo Casas as head coach, but he was dismissed. Aguileños Kalu Uche, Chumbi and Abel Molinero played for UD Almería in the past.

UD Almeria play a game every pre-season in Águilas. The Rojiblancos won at El Rubial this past summer.
