Maximiano: "We're responsible for this situation, but we believe in turning it around"

The 24-year-old UD Almería goalkeeper says that he was moved by the fans' strong support last Saturday despite the home defeat and the Lusitanian believes that they must be compensated for it

'We're responsible for this situation, the ones who have placed the team where it is, but also we're the ones who must turn it around and believe in ourselves,' stated UD Almería goalkeeper Luís Maximiano, who thinks that despite this difficult moment, safety can be secured; a goal they will fight for.

In his press conference with the media, the Portuguese keeper spoke of this blank matchweek: 'We're professional footballers and we always must work hard. Furthermore, we cannot relax at any time, quite the opposite. We have to take advantage of these days to be together, support each other and grow as a team before the league resumes.'

Getafe CF are the next up as they will be hosting the Rojiblancos next Saturday, 25th November. 'A very tough match like all of them, in which on the one hand, we'll have to stick to the plan in training, and on the other hand, know how to adapt to the opponents and everything that surrounds the match. We must know how to compete,' stressed the 24-year-old goalie.

In addition, the Lusitanian reflected: 'We're the bottom team, but when you come out onto the pitch, being in that position doesn't make you do better or worse. We have to play focused on what we've worked on, on the rivals and on competing well.'

The former Italian serie A side SS Lazio goalkeeper, who emphasises that the dressing room is united and well aware of moving forward, explained: 'We don't have to obsess over the position we occupy in the table and furthermore, the gap to safety isn't that big; it's better to leave the numbers towards the end of the season. Now it's time to think about the imminent opponents, give our all and get that first victory that we all want so much.'

Luís Maximiano also talked about the supportive fans and their attitude on the last Matchday at home despite the 1-3 defeat to Real Sociedad: 'The truth is that I didn't expect it and I was moved by their strong support and more than ever, they must be compensated for it. The fans are doing more than us.'

On a personal level, the Celeirós native indicated: 'At first, it was difficult for me to settle in because, in addition, I came after a long spell not playing, but I believe in work, and everything works out.'
