Rubi: 'We're fair winners of the match'

The UD Almería head coach valued the three points achieved, recognised: 'the rivals put up a brave fight' and thanked to the unwavering support of the travelling fans at the Cartagonova stadium

UD Almería head coach Rubi shared his post-match thoughts at the Cartagonova Stadium press room after the victory that represents the third consecutive of the season. 'We haven't suffered more than necessary, we've suffered what is due at least in a second division match. FC Cartagena bossed over that quarter of an hour in the first half in which they were able to turn the score around, but it's normal because they're good players and are well trained. It's true that we could've gone into half-time with more than one goal up. In the second half, we adjusted things and I think we're fair winners even though the rivals have put in a brave fight,' the head coach stated.

It has been 11 matches in which UD Almería have scored two or more goals and the gaffer referred to that statistic saying: 'I'm very happy with that figure, today was a more difficult match than the table reflects. I'm a promoter of the offensive game, I love it and I always give priority to my team scoring goals, even if it's difficult for them to concede any.'

The Catalan confessed what football m tactics he had told his players to use during the break for the second half: 'We had to win the ball back, we had entered a period of inaccuracies with the ball that we were not experiencing in the first half hour. In addition, we've changed the double pivot profile for different tactical nuances, which has worked very well for us.'

Rubi explained the improvements that UD Almería have had in recent games and recognised the difficulty of the tier: 'Everything we do is at the highest intensity, not so contemplative in some situations and then the team with their idea of the game create goal situations with some assiduity. Now let's move forward, because I reiterate that this league is very tough for everything.'

Finally, the Vilassar de Mar native also thanked the loyal travelling fans at the Cartagonova Stadium: 'I want to thank all the fans for coming to Cartagena. It makes us very happy that they can return home celebrating another victory, we work hard for that.'
