‘Sometimes defeats are necessary to take back power’

Corpas highlights the side’s desire to ‘turn the situation around’ in the difficult pitch of Huesca

Jose Corpas, who is available again after being injured last three weeks, has given a press conference and spoke to the media. The player stressed that the team must learn from the meeting against Racing: ‘Defeats are also necessary, nobody likes them, but they help you to see in what we have failed. You have to use them as a stepping stone. There are times when you win without playing well, and the victory included some mistakes.’

UD Almería chain three matchdays without knowing the victory, something that should not worry the team because as I said ‘football are streaks’ and added that ‘despite not winning, we continue runners-up, because the others are also failing to win. This is a very close and complicated division.’

When he was asked if the team was under pressure, he replied that ‘we changed the word pressure for demand. We are self-demanding because we are currently sitting in the second place and we want to overtake Cadiz’, he said before stating that ’it is a privilege to be in a team with the highest aspirations.’

The Jiennense stresses that in order to return to the path of victories it is necessary to ‘have peace of mind’ and ‘not to think beyond the day to day.’ For this reason, the winger has stated: ‘If we have done it before, why not now? We are in a position where many teams would like to be. I call it tranquillity because the truth is that Almeria are ranked second.’
