Soko back as UD Almería prepare for second-half opener
The Cameroonian striker returns from Africa Cup of Nations as head coach Rubi monitors injured players ahead of Deportivo de la Coruña match
UD Almería striker Soko has rejoined the squad after completing his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, ahead of the 2025/26 season’s second-half opener against Deportivo La Coruña on Saturday at 9pm (Spanish time). His return boosts head coach Rubi’s options, though the team still face several injury concerns.
The Cameroonian international had joined his national team camp following UD Almería’s home match against Burgos CF and returned nearly a month later. Cameroon progressed through the group stage and round of 16 in the tournament in Morocco, before being eliminated in the quarter-finals by the host nation. Soko’s match fitness remains uncertain, as he had limited playing time during the competition.
UD Almería continue to manage a number of key absences ahead of the Deportivo match, with the gaffer closely monitoring the treatment room for any potential recoveries.
Positive signs have emerged this week, with Nico Melamed and Bonini already beginning ball work on the pitch. Thalys and André Horta were also available for the recent match against CD Mirandés, while players on the brink of suspension, such as Chirino and Dzôdić, avoided bookings at the Anduva Stadium this Saturday.
