Fire drill at UD Stadium on a Matchday

During the rehearsal, the fire started in the light generator of lighting tower 1. The Club's entire emergency plan was quickly implemented. For the first time, the new infirmary, designated for any incidents involving spectators, was used

UD Almería Stadium was the scene of a fire drill on a Matchday, with numerous spectators in the stands. This was a rehearsal for emergencies for which the Club is prepared, as was made clear, but which must be demonstrated with these tests, as required by current legislation.

The fire started in the light generator of lighting tower 1, located between the grandstand and the North end. It was quickly extinguished, while fans were evacuated from those areas and care was provided for those who had inhaled smoke or fallen.

UD Almería have got a new infirmary designated for any incidents involving spectators, located in the grandstands. These facilities were used for the first time during the drill to care for those affected, although others were transferred to hospitals.

The drill involved Club personnel, the National Police, the Local Police, Grupo Control (a private security company), the U24 emergency service, and the Red Cross. Everything was coordinated by UD Almería's security director Manolo Martínez, facility director Ignacio Martín and match security coordinators Manuel Fernández Garrido and José García, who belong to the National Police Force.
