Sebastián Jiménez, new head of Club's medical services
During the previous 5 seasons he was at Cádiz CF. He is a specialist in Sports Medicine. The rigor in the work carried out by the coaching staff and the fluid communication between members stands out
Sebastián Jiménez Sánchez is the new head of medical services at UD Almería as he replaces Diego Portugal Maziel, who held this position since the arrival of Turki Alalshikh. However, at the end of the last 2023/24 campaign, he left the Club to face new professional challenges.
Sebastián Jiménez has assumed responsibility since the beginning of the 2024/25 pre-season. Previously, he was also linked to football at Cádiz CF, where he spent five years (2018-2023). He is a specialist in Sports Medicine and has also been an emergency doctor, as well as a sonographer, a section in which he stands out. In fact, he emphasises that within this last speciality there is musculoskeletal ultrasound, which 'is vital to detect muscle injuries and other abdominal issues. It's essential for a first assessment.'
'I didn't meet Rubi and his backroom team before although logically, I had heard about them. We've been working together for three weeks now and it seems more like I've been working together for an entire season due to the fluid communication. They're very professional and organized. They've got a lot of rigor in their work and they make things a lot easier. The union between the technical and medical members is the conditioning coach and communication is effective,' Mr Jiménez highlights.
At the moment, there has been no incident to bear in mind except for the setback experienced with Koné. 'He had a presyncopal symptoms including vertigo, nausea and hypotension, which is usually normal in high temperatures and especially when it comes to people making huge efforts. We chose to take him to the Vithas Hospital in Almería so that he could undergo different tests and rule out other more important pathologies or even an infectious disease. Since nothing was serious was noticed, he's already joined the pre-season training camp,' the UD Almería Doctor explained.
