Samú Costa: ‘We cannot change the past; we can focus on improving for the next match’
The UD Almeria defensive midfielder highlights that Sunday's rivals SD Huesca have gained top-flight football experience not long ago
After having a bad time from the stands during the last match against Girona FC at the Mediterraneo, Samú Costa will be available again this weekend for the away match against SD Huesca: ‘They’re rivals who come from the Primera Division. Even though they’re not having a very good league, they’re always a very difficult team to win away from home. I haven't been able to play against them yet but I know what I've seen and I know their strengths. We'll watch videos to prepare well,’ he commented.
The 21-year-old Portuguese has regretted that more points have not been earned on recent Matchdays: ‘Football isn’t a fair sport, you can play very well for 89 minutes and concede a goal in the very last minute. It's not a matter of luck, many things happen like against CD Lugo or Girona FC, however we can't change what’s happened and we can only focus on improving for the game in Huesca.’
The race for promotion to the top flight is hotting up: ‘Being at the top means greater pressure since all rivals are going all out to win with extra motivation, but we’re lucky professionals who earn money from football and we have to know how to play under pressure because, if we move up to Primera Division, it’ll be even greater. Everyone must think about improving to help the team,’ he detailed.
The Aveiro-born has also referred to the pressure that they had to cope with in the last games: ‘The gap between the top three is so small that not even the leaders are safe. There’s pressure for everyone because if you lose two games, you’ll drop out from automatic promotion. Let's forget that and start thinking about SD Huesca because we’re a group who are going to achieve things.’
