Sadiq wins LaLiga SmartBank’s January Player of the Month award!
The centre-forward is to receive the award on Sunday, 14 February, before the match against Las Palmas at Juegos Mediterráneos.
UD Almería striker Sadiq Umar, one of the top scorers in the Segunda Division championship, has been chosen the best LaLiga SmartBank’s January Player of the Month. The Rojiblanco footballer was nominated along with UD Las Palmas midfielder Sergio Ruiz and Girona FC defender Bernardo Espinosa. In the end, the well-deserved award will be given to the Almeria team’s top scorer.
Almería have played one less game as the last one to complete the first half of the second tier championship was suspended because of the Storm Filomena and that should have been played in Leganés. Sadiq has scored five goals in the three games played by the Rojiblancos. He scored three goals against Ponferradina, one against Sabadell, and another against Castellón, in addition to shining with his performances. In fact, the 24-year-old Nigerian also gave a brilliant assist to his peer Jose Corpas in the last game.
LaLiga plans to present the award to Sadiq next Sunday, 14 February before to the match kick-off between UD Almería and UD Las Palmas at the Juegos Mediterráneos Stadium.
