Andrés Fernández: 'We knew it was going to be a very difficult match, but we achieved our objective'

The UD Almería keeper was one of UD Almería’s standout performers in San Sebastián. He told UDA Radio: 'In this division, you have to work hard away from home; otherwise, you achieve nothing."

Andrés Fernández was once again one of UD Almería’s key performers in the tenth-round match of against Real Sociedad 'B', played at Zubieta Stadium. The Andalusian side demonstrated their attacking strength, but the Murcia-born goalkeeper made several crucial saves to keep out the opposition’s attacks.

'We knew it was going to be a very difficult match because Real Sociedad’s reserve team is a very intense opponent. They demand a lot from you and, regardless of the score, they keep attacking constantly. But in the end, we achieved our objective, which was to take all three points' said the UD Almería goalkeeper.

On that note, he explained:'They delivered a lot of crosses from the wings and created chances, although we prevented them from scoring at crucial moments.'

He also pointed out:' In this division, you have to work hard, especially away from home; otherwise, you achieve nothing. He went on to add: 'Winning all 3 points is always difficult, but it is even harder away from home. We have to be prepared because there will be many periods when we do not have possession, and we will have to defend and suffer.'

Andrés Fernández believes that 'staying near the top of the table gives us a lot of confidence. We're becoming a strong team, and we need to continue along this path. Everyone is also fully committed and united.'

However, he was keen to avoid getting carried away, pointing out that only ten rounds have been played so far. Instead, he advocates taking things 'one match at a time.'
