Baptistão: 'We know what we're capable of; we just need to prove it again'

The UD Almería centre-forward is aware of the reality of LaLiga Hypermotion and therefore recognises: 'The most important thing now is intensity, motivation, desire and being united because talent and technique alone are not enough.'

Léo Baptistão has spoken on UDA Radio about several topics related to the current situation of the team, including the table and the last defeat at the Ipurúa Stadium: 'We knew that we were not going to win all the matches in a row, that we would've some slip-ups because that's normal in such a competitive league. When you have not scored 3 points for a long time you have to set off an alarm and wake up as soon as possible to try to change the team dynamic. We already did it once, we know that we're capable, the only thing left is to prove it again.'

The also right-winger considers head coach Rubi to be one of the foundations of the project and assures that he has full confidence in him: 'He works very hard when things are going well, but when things go wrong he does 3 times as much; he's a football fanatic, he's passionate about his job. He tries to get the most out of each player and he has the whole dressing room involved regardless of the role they have. He's an excellent professional and a great leader; his positive attitude is great for us.'

The Brazilian is self-critical and knows that 'to get promoted we cannot lose games because of silly mistakes as it has already happened to us. The next match will be very tough because the rivals need the points just like us; the first goal will have a lot of influence and whoever has the best mentality will grab all 3 points.'

The Santos-born player ended the interview talking about the fans and he thanked them and at the same time asked them to make themselves known in such an important match as the one on Saturday against the Zaragoza outfit: 'We have no complaints from the fans, they've always supported me personally. They're driven by passion and it's normal that, if things go wrong, there's some gossip. I'd like to ask for their support on Saturday, it's very noticeable when they're there and we give it our all.'
