Rubi and Pozo are honoured by entering the '100 club'

The UD Almería head coach and the right-back have completed the centenary of matches so Club Managing Director Mohamed El Assy presented them with framed commemorative T-shirts

UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' and UD Almería first-team right-back Alejandro Pozo were honoured by the Club as they both have reached a century of 100 games as Rojiblancos. The past fixture against Burgos CF marked head coach Rubi's 100th LaLiga match at UD Almería, while the right-back reached the milestone in Oviedo. Taking into account that the team has had two consecutive outings, the Albacetistas have been the first outfit to visit the UD Almería Stadium after these remarkable achievements.

Club Managing Director Mohamed El Assy presented them with framed shirts with the number 100 printed on the back in the early stages of the match against the Castilla-La Mancha side, which for Rubi was number 103 and for Pozo was number 102.

The 25-year-old footballer from Seville was signed in the past 2020/21 campaign when  promotion to the top flight was earned; a campaign in which the versatile player was key, being lined up 39 times in the league and once in the Spanish Cup, besides he scored three goals and gave four assists.

Pozo, who had experience in the top tier of Spanish football, also took a leading role in the 2022/23 season. In fact, he played 30 LaLiga Santander and 1 Copa del Rey tournament with three assists to his team-mates. Last 2023/24 season, he played 21 top-flight fixtures and 2 Spanish Cup ties, while in the current term, he has played his sixth game in Oviedo following his centurion game. So far, the Seville native has achieved a goal... a great goal, the one that sealed victory over Burgos CF on Matchday 8.

As for Rubi, the UD Almería head coach took over the reins in the final stretch of the 2020/21 season, leading the team in 6 league matches and 2 promotion play-offs ties. In the past 2021/22 campaign, in which the team moved up to Primera, there were 42 league games and 3 Copa del Rey ties. Later, in the 2022/23 season, when the Indálicos secured top-tier safety, he was in the driving seat in 38 league meetings and 1 in the Spanish Cup tournament. The Vilassar de Mar native has been in charge of the team in 11 LaLiga Hypermotion games.
