Rubi: ‘We’re well aware that we haven’t achieved anything yet’

The man at the helm of the UD Almeria squad assures that his players will go all out for a win in Sanse, warns of the difficulties of the match and praises the hosts

Real Sociedad ‘B’ will be waiting for the Rojiblancos at the Reale Arena Stadium in San Sebastián ready to battle it out this Friday, however and before that, Rubi has previewed the next away game in the Basque Country. ‘We’re in a privileged position better than anyone else, but the reality is that we haven’t achieved anything yet,’ admitted the man at the helm of the UD Almeria squad during the pre-match press conference. He explained ‘we experienced a festive and rocking atmosphere last Saturday…I was the first to enjoy it…but because of the situation at that time. I understand that the fans relish the victory, although we have to stay focused, stay on the right track and think about moving forward with Friday's game.’

The head coach added ‘the players are like robots; they know that they have to keep pushing and that nothing has been done yet. Anything can happen in a football match, but what I’m very clear about is that we’re not going to be caught off guard, quite the opposite. We’ll look to maintain our good level of play and give everything on the pitch.’

Rubi also praised the team from ‘Sanse’ [San Sebastian] about whom he said ‘I think they should’ve gotten more points in the standings. I admire them greatly and they’ve got a head coach with an extraordinary fighting spirit. They’ve had a very attractive and well-worked game idea. They’ve known how to get through a rough patch as evidenced by the fact that they’re in safety on Matchday 40.’

The Rojiblancos’ gaffer recognised ‘it’s a good time for them and for us too,’ and concluded ‘it’s clear that Real Sociedad ‘B’ have a lot at stake and will have the highest motivation, but so have we’... And the truth is that promotion to the top flight is at stake for UD Almería.
