Rubi: ‘We’re now going to insist more on tactics and our style of play’

The head coach talks about the objectives during the pre-season training camp. Creating a solid and well-rounded team is of the utmost importance

‘We’re going to continue working hard, although the physical fitness will be secondary, we’ll not ignore it. We’re now going to insist more on tactics and our style of play with talks and match scenarios,’ stated head coach Rubi with regard to the objectives to be fullfilled over the team’s pre-season training camp in the town of Benahavís. In addition, he added: ‘We’ll promote other values such as creating a solid team and encourage togetherness.. say being a family.’

Meanwhile, the gaffer emphasised ‘I don’t know any team that meets its objectives if it doesn’t have a solid and united group. We need tolerance and the squad members must help each other and get on well... This is essential.’

On the other hand, the UD Almería head coach pointed out ‘we’ve been training for 20 days with very intense training sessions. I’m very proud of them all. I think we’ve worked well on the players’ physical fitness. As I said, we now have to display the football that we’ve been playing.

Rubi highlighted ‘the enthusiasm and willingness that all footballers need to have to perform a great season.’ Next, he commented ‘we’re exactly where we wanted to be. We’ve achieved objectives in terms of work and preparation. If we talk about producing a well-rounded team, there’s still a long way to go. I’d like to have everything clearer. I know the Club is doing everything they can, but the summer transfer window is slow.’

The Rojiblanco head coach feels sorry for Juan Villar’s injury, the only player missing out at the moment, although it is actually not serious: ‘He’s one of the experienced players and he was being a role model thanks to his eagerness and enthusiasm ahead of the next season. He also sustained that injured on the last play of a football practice. It’s a pity.’
