Rubi: ‘We’re leaving a bit sad, but not downhearted’

The head coach regrets that his players’ teamwork during the second half did not reward them with a draw at least

‘We’re sad because I think we could’ve drawn, but we’re not downhearted,’ exclaimed UD Almería head coach Rubi after the defeat suffered at the Ipurúa Stadium. That feeling of sadness was experienced in the first half because they knew well how to walk out onto the pitch more intense. On the other hand, satisfaction came from the Indalicos’ superiority in the second period. In short, in the head coach's opinion, it was a clash with ‘one half for each team.’

When the Catalan was asked about the Basque-based side’s victory, Rubi stated: ‘They’ve scored a brilliant goal and we’ve seized opportunities.’ This made him add: ‘It’s such a pity that we haven’t been able to convert some of the ones we’ve had because we haven’t suffered anything in the clearance zone. Of course, Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia recognised the huge effort from SD Eibar when it came to defending themselves to keep all three home points.

Regarding the LaLiga SmartBank table, Rubi stressed that there is still a long time to go and that the season ‘is a long-distance race,’ so it is necessary to focus from now on next week’s game.
