Rubi: ‘We don't have time for regrets’
The UD Almeria head coach acknowledges that nerves took their toll on UD Almería and trusts in his side’s ability to pick themselves back up
‘It's a deep shame, but we don't have time for regrets,’ were the words expressed by Rubi after the 1-1 draw with AD Alcorcón prevented the Rojiblancos from virtually reaching the top-flight Primera Division this Saturday. They will now have to go all out for a victory in Leganés: ‘We depend on us and we’re going to win,’ he commented.
The UD Almeria head coach trusts in his side’s ability to pick themselves back up now that they have their last chance to go up to the Spanish top flight through automatic promotion. Of course, in relation to the match that has just ended, he argued: ‘The adversaries have competed really well. We haven't been successful in some periods of the game, but I reckon we've created enough chances to have obtained another result.’
Rubi did not hide that the nerves might have taken their toll, especially in the beginning, on the footballers, and thus, he pointed out: ‘In the dressing room there has been no belief of being already in the top tier. We just haven’t had a good day.’ The gaffer was thinking of starting to prepare for the last game of the LaLiga SmartBank regular season in Leganés on Sunday, 29th May in which the Indálicos depend on themselves.
