Rubi: ‘Very strange things have happened’

The head coach considers that the script of the match was ‘cruel and particularly harsh,’ to UD Almería, who deserved a better result

‘It’s been a very cruel and hard script of the match,’ reflected UD Almeria head coach Rubi following UD Almería’s 0-1 defeat to Girona FC. Everyone left the stadium with the feeling that the Rojiblancos had ‘deserved much more.’ On that note, the Catalan was asked by the media for a description of the league meeting and he replied: ‘I’d describe it as a horror movie. Strange things have happened.’

Be that as it may, the Indalicos’ head coach took the opportunity to point out on the upside that the Almerienses transmitted ‘good vibes’ against tough rivals and added: ‘It's time to bounce back from this one soon because the team have done their very best to at least draw.’

The Vilassar de Mar native gave his take on the numerous penalties that UD Almería have missed over the course of this 2021/22 season, speaking of it being a factor that is taking its toll on some results. On this subject, Rubi concluded: ‘I had never been in charge of a team suffering so much misfortune when it comes down to penalty kicks. I can assure you that the players worked on them, but there’s no way… It's a hindrance that has made us drop three or four points.’
