Rubi uses his whiteboard in tactical training
UD Almería pause the physical fitness as the head coach delves into the game strategy and tactics he wants to implement. The first pre-season friendly -Saturday- against Granada CF is approaching
UD Almería have focused on tactical concepts and have reduced the physical load. This Wednesday, Rubi's whiteboard has been the tool used during the morning training session that the team completed on the Anexo base. The head coach has always been characterised by a very specific methodology when preparing his teams and a good example of this has been seen in a new UD Almería session. Surely, the proximity of the first pre-season friendly - scheduled for this Saturday - responds to this.
Along with an optimal physical set-up of the squad, the players have covered a tactical session where the Vilassar de Mar native coach has explained some game mechanisms, focusing more strongly on the defensive ones. As a result, UD Almería have had to move back towards their own goal, switches of play and different concepts that are always vital for Rubi; A very important and relevant issue is the fact that the players themselves - this pre-season - know each other perfectly and do not start from scratch to form a group. Quite the opposite. The squad, as a whole, have coexisted and that undoubtedly offers advantages when it comes to improving. It is time to gear up and find the most effective playing style possible.
This Saturday, the first friendly will be played against one of the Rojiblancos' rivals next campaign, Granada CF. That is why, despite being an off-season match, the team is beginning to outline what they want to become when the official season starts through good physical, mental and tactical preparation. However, there are still five more training sessions ahead in the remainder of the week to continue distributing the different workloads perfectly tailored by the coaching staff.
This Wednesday, the squad will be put through their paces again on the Anexo training ground (9:30am) after some gym work-outs.
