Rubi: ‘The draw is a fair result’
The head coach highlights that UD Almería certainly merited to obtain an important result on a difficult pitch to win
UD Almeria head coach Rubi gave his take after the match played at the Gran Canaria Stadium: ‘The draw is a fair result.’ He also stated that the Amarillos came flying out of the traps, while a second half saw the Rojiblancos ‘getting closer to scoring their second goal.’ Then he added: ‘We’ve been better over the course of the second period because nothing has happened in our area and everything has happened in theirs.’
The Catalan gaffer appreciated the brilliant defensive work done by his players, which allowed the hosts, whom he once again defined as ‘a great team,’ to create less danger than they’re used to. On a side note, the head coach focused on the contribution of attacking and defending set-pieces and underlined: ‘We’ve created chances as well as we’ve solved the problems that existed in our defence.’
Rubi was now turning his attention to the paramount importance of footballers improving their fitness as there have been numerous absences following a Covid-19 outbreak and some injury issues too. On this matter, he concluded: ‘We have to help them and we’ve got 10 days until the next game.’
