Rubi takes charge of his first training session as UD Almería head coach

The 51-year-old gave instructions keeping his distance following Covid-19 rules. Behind-closed-doors practice in the Stadium on Thursday

Newly appointed UD Almería head coach Rubi has conducted his very first training session keeping his distance due to LaLiga's Covid-19 protocol. The 51-year-old and his coaching lieutenants have tested negative for coronavirus in both PCR and antigen tests, however before being fully integrated, they will need to take a second PCR test.

For this reason, Rubi had no choice but to keep his distance with the squad when he was giving instructions for the first time in Almeria. First of all, the new gaffer tried to learn as much as he could about his new players to get an idea of their strengths and weaknesses in-situ before laying down the team strategy and shape.

Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia's first day in Almeria was quite intense because he had some meetings at his hotel in order to start getting familiar with his new Club and took his medical too. Next, he chatted to the players before training at the Juegos Mediterraneos, he also met the members of the medical staff, assistants and the kit men. The new Rojiblancos’ head coach supervised the first training session to round off his hectic first day at the office.

Almería return to behind-closed-doors training at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium on Thursday (4:00 p.m. CEST)
