Rubi: ‘I apologise as I’m responsible for the first half that we’ve played’

The UD Almeria gaffer argued ‘I’ve put a lot of pressure on my team to try to get the first win away from home.’ He also tried to look on the bright side: ‘We’ve only lost three points’

‘I’ve never apologised for a game, but this time I must do it for the first half that we’ve played. I’m responsible for it,’ apologised UD Almeria head coach Rubi at the post-Girona press conference. He argued on that note ‘I’ve put a lot of pressure on my team to try to get the first win away from home.’

When analysing what went wrong over the first half, the Rojiblancos’ gaffer explained ‘we haven’t competed. We haven't fixed anything we needed to fix. The defence has failed and we didn’t attack as we should have. Then, in the second half, we did compete, which is what I told the players in the break. I also told them that they could score two goals because four was impossible.’

On the other hand, the UD Almería boss stated ‘They didn’t have to do much to dominate us and this seriously worries me,’ although at the same time, Rubi tried to look on the bright side: ‘We’ve only lost three points.’

Looking ahead to the new week of competition, Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia stressed ‘we’re all going to push because we stick together and we have to learn from what happened and find solutions. The players are angry in the dressing room and that attitude has to be changed for motivation and the desire to redeem ourselves.’

Rubi, who did not hesitate to say that it was the hardest day of his professional career, pointed out ‘this is a wake-up call that has to make us bounce back.’
