The Club and the head coach have mutually agreed to part ways after 2 spells spanning 5 seasons
UD Almería and Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' have mutually agreed to part ways, bringing an end to the head coach's second spell at the Club.
Rubi first joined UD Almería during the closing stages of the 2020/21 season, taking charge ahead of the promotion play-offs. The following campaign, he guided the Rojiblancos to the Segunda title and promotion to LaLiga, securing the first league championship in the Club's history.
In the 2022/23 season, the Catalan successfully led the team to safety in Spain's top-flight before departing the Club at the conclusion of the campaign.
Rubi returned following relegation from LaLiga to lead a new project with the objective of an immediate return to the top-flight. During his second spell, UD Almería reached the promotion play-offs in consecutive seasons, culminating in a place in the 2025/26 play-off final after a semi-final appearance the previous year.
Across his 2 spells in charge, the Vilassar de Mar native oversaw some of the most significant moments in the Club's history and leaves as the head coach with the most competitive matches managed for UD Almería.
The Club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Rubi for his professionalism, commitment and dedication throughout his time in Almería. His contribution to the growth and success of UD Almería will remain an important part of the Club's history.
Everyone at UD Almería wishes Rubi and his family every success and happiness for the future.
