Rubi analyses what the latest signings can contribute to the team

The UD Almería head coach appreciates striker Sadiq's hug after scoring 1-0 vs Málaga CF

UD Almería head coach Rubi has spoken on Club’s official station UDA Radio about what the latest signings made in the recent summer transfer window can contribute to the squad, taking advantage of his intervention to comment on the fact that Sadiq hugged him at the dugout right after scoring the opener 1-0 to Málaga.

The Catalan explained ‘I saw him a little affected at half-time because things weren't going the way we wanted in attack. We talked and I told him to be confident and very positive, so after scoring, he had the spontaneous gesture of coming towards me. The truth is that he played a great second half and scored an extraordinary goal.’

The UD Almería gaffer did not want to comment at the pre-Málaga presser on the situation of the latest signings since he avoided giving clues to the rivals.  He did so at the post-match press conference instead. UDA Radio wanted to deepen its analysis, regardless of the context of Saturday's home fixture.

When he was asked about Carriço, he did not hesitate to state ‘It’s a great fortune to have him with us’ and he wasn’t worried about not having the Lusitanian yet, since due to his potential ‘it doesn’t matter if we have to wait a bit longer as paperwork issues prevented him from being included in the squad list. Regarding this, the head coach stated ‘this situation isn’t either the Club or the player’s fault. The documentation has to come from China and the procedures are rather complicated.’

About Babić, Rubi commented ‘he’s a left-booted player and we’re looking to give him a different profile. He’s a magnificent passer who is good on the ball.’ In addition, he mentioned that the Serbian centre-back has experience and will be very competitive when defending.

When talking about Dyego Sousa, Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia stressed ‘he’s an extraordinary player of the highest level who wouldn’t come to Almería if it weren't for special circumstances. The fact that he’s been inactive has allowed us to bring him in. We’re working towards his match fitness to have him ready as soon as possible. He has got good genes and an important physical fitness despite not having competed lately.’

Last but not least, about latest signing Pozo, the head coach pointed out ‘he’s joined the group dynamics very well. He knew players from other stages and it was easy for him. He has enthusiasm, experience in Primera and versatility.’

All in all, Rubi is happy with the signings and stressed ‘the end of the transfer window has been hard and busy but more than successful. I’ll have to prove it as a head coach.’
