Rubi: ‘Amorebieta will demand a lot from us’

The UD Almeria head coach warns of the dangers and good tactics of Sunday's rivals

‘Amorebieta are a team that will demand a lot from us and we’ll have to be very focused,’ explained UD Almeria head coach Rubi at the pre-match presser ahead of Sunday’s away fixture in North Spain (kick-off 5pm).

The Almeria team’s head coach indicated ‘every game is different in this league. We’ve liked a lot what we’ve seen from our next opponents. They’re a brave team that create big chances. It’s true that they haven’t scored yet. They’re the bottom team in the table at the moment, but they’ve got something positive out of their first two away games.’ In addition, he added: ‘They pressure with high intensity and that will complicate our game. They continually drive the ball forward to the rivals’ goal. On top of that, they’ll go into the game feeling hungry to get the first points in a historic match for them because it’ll be their first game at home in their LaLiga SmartBank’s debut.’

At the same time, Rubi has total confidence in his side’s work and in the performance of his players. The gaffer confirmed the presence of Robertone, fully recovered, but announced that Portillo will sit out this third fixture due to muscular discomfort.’ The UD Almería coach appreciates the arrival of Carriço as he believes that the new signing will contribute a lot to the squad.

The Catalan also acknowledged that in these last days of the transfer window anything can happen. Of course, he has asked the Club not to bring players who do not improve the quality level that the squad currently has.’ Meanwhile, he was pleased with the extension of Lazo's contract ‘who like other team-mates has come this season ready to take an important step forward, as in fact he’s doing. His attitude is exemplary.’
