Rodrigo Ely transferred to Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense

The Brazilian central defender returns to the club from which he left long time ago to play football in Europe. He has been an outstanding UD Almería player

UD Almería completed this Thursday the transfer of Rodrigo Ely to Brazilian Serie A club Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, after the agreement reached with the footballer and the South American club. The central defender had one season left remaining in his contract with UD Almería.

Rodrigo Ely landed in UD Almería in the past 2021/22 winter transfer window and from the beginning, he became a key footballer. In that mid-season, the Lajeado-born played 12 league games, registered 3 vital goals and his flawless performances contributed enormously to promotion to the top flight. Last season, the 29-year-old was lined up in 36 fixtures in the top tier of Spanish football.

Personal matters have influenced the Brazilian central defender to decide to return to his home country and to his native club, Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, from which he left in 2010 to play European football. Rodrigo Ely played in the Italian, English and Spanish competitions for teams such as Nottingham Forest or AC Milán.

UD Almería thank Rodrigo Ely for his professionalism and total commitment, setting an example both on and off the pitch at all times.
