
Right-winger José Corpas transferred to SD Eibar
The Baños de la Encina native has been wearing the UD Almería shirt for the last three seasons
UD Almería and SD Eibar have reached an agreement for the transfer of footballer José Corpas. The right-winger has been wearing the red and white jersey for the last three seasons, playing a prominent role in the attacking game on the right wing and becoming one of the Rojiblancos captains. He has definitely been a major part of the team on and off the pitch.
The Baños de la Encina native became the best version of himself during the 2020/21 campaign as he was the second top scorer as he found the back of the net 12 times over the 45 matches played between LaLiga SmarBank regular season, play-offs and the Spanish Cup Copa del Rey. In addition, he gave 8 assists in both competitions.
The 29-year-old player arrived at UD Almería during the summer of 2018, enjoying his first opportunity of competing in LaLiga. He played for Marbella FC in third tier Segunda Division ‘B’ and previously for Linares Deportivo following the well-trodden pathway to professional football. From the very beginning in Almeria, it was possible to verify that Corpas was carving out a promising footballing career and that season he made it clear through three goals and as many assists in the 42 fixtures of all the tournaments in which he performed.
Later, the right-winger would also be one of the benchmarks in the 2019/20 season, when the Rojiblancos made it to the play-offs for promotion to top tier LaLiga Santander. He featured for UD Almeria in 38 meetings in all competitions scoring 4 times and adding 6 assists to his name.
After a scintillating 2020/21 season at UD Almería in which José Corpas has been a key piece, the Club, the player and SD Eibar have reached an agreement to transfer him to the Basque Country-based side even though his contract with the Andalusian Club was set to expire in one year.
