Racing Santander vs UD Almería: goal-fest in the making

Rubi’s side fine-tunes preparations with final sessions before travelling to Santander on Sunday

El Sardinero stadium will set the stage as Racing de Santander and UD Almería go head-to-head like two heavyweights. Sitting first and second in the table, both teams boast formidable attacking power. Between them, they have scored 133 goals, numbers only surpassed by European giants such as FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Sporting Lisbon.

Sunday’s clash (KO 9pm CET at El Sardinero) promises, on paper, to be a goal-filled spectacle. Just one point separates the two sides in the standing and only one goal in scoring charts: Racing have netted 67, while UD Almería have 66. Across Europe’s second divisions, no team comes close to these figures. Even Coventry City (84) and Ipswich Town (69) in the Championship have played significantly more matches. Both teams prioritise attacking play, combining quality and efficiency in the final third.

With that in mind, clinical finishing could prove decisive in this Matchday 35 encounter in LaLiga Hypermotion. Head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' oversaw a focused session on crosses and finishing on Friday, fine-tuning his side’s attacking sharpness behind closed doors at the UDA Stadium. The squad will train again tomorrow evening before travelling to Santander on Sunday.
