Luis Suárez: I want to be here and succeed at UD Almería

The Colombian striker speaks at a press conference about his new contract as Rojiblanco until June 2029

'I've signed a long-term contract because I want to be here and succeed at UD Almería,' stated UD Almería striker Luis Suárez, who has given a press conference to talk about his new deal with the Club. He arrived on loan and is now a new Rojiblanco player until June 2029. He explained: 'As Mohamed El Assy has already said, we were talking and I told him that I want to stay in Almería because I'm very comfortable. The city is welcoming, the fans treat me in an incredible way and we can continue to grow as a team a lot.'

When asked about a possible offer from the City Group, he replied: 'I want to be calm and focused on UD Almería,' although in this regard, the Colombian specified that this is football and if a proposal arrives that both the Club and I cannot reject, in the end, we're people and we can't say what could happen, but I insist that I'm only thinking of UD Almería.'

When talking about last season, the Santa Marta native stressed: 'I couldn't score many goals, although I did.' I compensated with hard work and assists.' He also added, when asked about his former head coach Rubi: 'It was vital for everyone to meet the goal set by the Club. On a personal level, I'm also happy because he knew how to deal with different situations that arose within my personality.'

Luis Suárez would like to continue having El Bilal Touré as a team-mate, however the 25-year-old pointed out: 'There's a lot of talk about offers to sign him, so I'm afraid that you should ask managers about it. He's a great player though.'

The Colombian centre-forward has gone through many clubs during his footballing career, despite being only 35 years old. 'There are different ways to get to the Spanish Primera Division and I had to go through a process in different teams to improve myself. They're situations and moments that just happen,' he said.

Luis Suárez sent the UD Almería fans a message: 'I'm truly grateful for their support and trust so I don't feel that much pressure. As a player and person, it's very gratifying to count on this unwavering support.'
