Gui Guedes: 'We're working well and ready for any challenge'

The Lusitanian UD Almería midfielder eyes consistency after injury and team's strong start to the campaign

Gui Guedes is eager to build on his recent progress, with the 23-year-old UD Almería midfielder determined to solidify his place in the starting XI after an injury-riddled season. Speaking to UDA Radio, he expressed confidence in the team’s growth and his personal development as the Club looks to continue its strong start to the campaign.

The Santa Marta de Penaguião native, now in his 4th season with the Rojiblancos, has faced his share of challenges. After 2 seasons on loan at CD Lugo and FC Porto 'B', the Portuguese has gradually made his mark at UD Almería. Despite an injury setback last season that kept him out of the starting XI, Guedes has featured in four of the 6 matches this term, starting in two of them.

'I knew when I arrived that patience and hard work were key,' said Guedes, reflecting on his journey at the Club. 'I'm happy with my current situation. Every footballer wants to play, but it doesn't always happen for many reasons. Off the pitch, I take care of myself and when my moment comes, I give it my all,' he added.

Last Saturday, UD Almería celebrated their first home win of the season, a crucial victory that Guedes described as 'necessary' for the team’s morale. 'It was a very productive week with clear ideas. We're united as a team and with the unrivalled support of our fans, we managed to win a very tough match,' he continued.

With the Indálicos' side in good spirits, Guedes is setting his sights on a successful run of results, similar to the one that saw the Club rise through the ranks last season. The upcoming fixture against UD Las Palmas, however, promises to be a tough challenge. He acknowledged the quality of the UD Las Palmas squad, who are strong contenders for promotion.'

'They're serious rivals and we know how difficult it'll be at their stadium. We’re working on every aspect of our game and are physically very strong. We’re improving steadily and are ready for any type of match. We want to go all out and beat any of our rivals,' said the Lusitanian.

As UD Almería look to make a statement in their push for promotion, Gui Guedes remains committed to seizing every opportunity to contribute to the team's success.
