The UD Almería defender analyses the first-leg clash against CD Castellón in detail and admits he is eager for kick-off to arrive so they can show they are the best side in the play-offs
Marcos Luna is counting down the hours until the opening match of the promotion play-offs and, speaking to UDA Radio, said: 'We consider ourselves the best team in the play-offs based on what the league table says, but now we must prove it on the pitch in these two-legged ties.'
The UD Almería defender also responded to comments made by the opposition in recent days regarding any supposed fear of facing CD Castellón: 'Fear? It's good that they've said that to motivate their supporters, but the team that finished 3rd was UD Almería.'
Discussing the upcoming opponents, Luna explained: 'They're a team that don't hide the way they play because you know from the start exactly what they're going to do. They're very attacking and commit a lot of players in the final third and inside the box to create as many chances as possible. There will obviously be spells when we'll have to sit deeper, but at any moment we can turn a ball into a one-on-one with the keeper because of the way both teams play.'
The Zaragoza born believes that whatever happens in the first leg, the tie will remain wide open: 'Whatever happens at the Castalia stadium, this is a 180-minute contest. Of course, we'll go there on Saturday looking to win.'
With the return leg set to be played at home, Luna acknowledged the importance of securing 3rd place in the regular season: 'It doesn't guarantee anything, but we wanted to fight for it because it allows us to play the second leg at home, in front of our fans. That's an advantage, just like having the benefit in the event of a draw. We feel very strong with our supporters behind us.'
The 23-year-old is dreaming of achieving promotion, with the target now only 4 matches away: 'Everyone involved in football wants to play against the best in the world. We must give everything we have to achieve promotion.'
