Chumi: There are many games ahead and we must not lose our patience

The UD Almeria centre-back believes that they should believe in themselves and should not be obsessed with their struggles on the road

UD Almería centre-back Chumi has met with the media at the Power Horse Stadium press room to look ahead to Sunday's trip to Vigo. ‘We have to get rid of nerves because the end of the season is around the corner,’ said the footballer calling for confidence and concentration. In addition, he considered it crucial ‘not to be obsessed with the results on their trips despite the winless streak away from home. Except for two or three matches, we’ve always been close to grabbing the three points.’ On that note, the Laracha-born insisted: ‘It’s only one more game that we must play to our best ability without thinking that we haven’t won away from home yet.’

Regarding the international break, the 24-year-old player commented: ‘We’ve had a week without league action and we’ve made the most of it in training to get ready for the next fixtures. The team is in a good place and can’t wait to compete again. We have a new opportunity on Sunday to get the victory and we want to take advantage of it.’

The UD Almeria central defender talked about next hosts RC Celta de Vigo: ‘They are coming off a few really good matches, playing football well and getting positive results.’ He also assures: ‘One of the keys to having chances is not gifting them spaces because they have players who make a difference.’

The Rojiblanco central defender feels happy and comfortable in the city, so much so that Chumi and his wife have set up a business together, which is a nail salon franchise: ‘Both my wife and I feel really comfortable in Almeria and we hope to be here for many more years.’
