Bonini: 'A 6-year deal is a matter of pride, satisfaction and responsibility'
The new UD Almería centre-back pledges full commitment as he begins long-term journey in Spain.
Federico Bonini has been officially unveiled as UD Almería’s latest summer signing, with the Italian centre-back expressing both pride and determination following his 6-year contract with the club, tying him to the Rojiblancos until June 2031.
Presented by board secretary Mariano Blanco in the absence of Managing Director Mohamed El Assy, Bonini faced the media and spoke of the trust placed in him: 'For a Club to sign you for 6 years is a source of pride, satisfaction and also a responsibility. I’m here to give it my all and help the team achieve its objectives.'
The 24-year-old arrives from US Catanzaro in Italy’s Serie B, where he played every match last season—including the promotion play-offs—and netted an impressive 9 goals as a defender. Despite receiving numerous offers, Bonini admitted UD Almería's proposal stood out: 'This was the best offer. The Club made a great effort to bring me here, and I want to repay that confidence.'
Describing himself as a centre-back 'strong in the air, always focused and decisive in marking,' Bonini cited Italian legends Giorgio Chiellini and Paolo Maldini as his role models.
The Italian is already settling into his new surroundings and praised the support from the squad and coaching staff: 'The adaptation is going smoothly. Everyone is helping me a lot. The Spanish second division is similar to Serie B, but it’s definitely more intense. And as I’ve already been told and seen winning away is a real challenge here.'
