UD Almería player Léo Baptistão spoke on UDA Radio about the team current situation. When asked where he saw himself in approximately a month and a half, he didn't hesitate to respond emphatically: 'Of course, celebrating promotion to the Primera division, which is what we all want and what we work for every day.' But to achieve this, it will be key to 'Keep our good momentum at home and improve our away results,' the UD Almería striker emphasised. It's been a long, very long week, as after visiting CD Castellón last Friday, 18 April, the team won't play again until Monday, 28 April. 10 days between one match and the next. He explained: 'When you put in a bad performance and lose, what you want is to play as soon as possible to turn things around,' before adding. 'The wait is tough, although we're working well, the group is united and we have a positive energy to win the next match.'
Racing de Ferrol could be relegated this coming Matchday depending on the results. Léo Baptistão, an experienced player, stated: 'At this stage of the season, surprising results always happen and we must keep our feet on the ground. In these matches, teams give it their all because they're playing for the final whistle. It's going to be a challenge for them and for us given the situation we find ourselves in.'
In this regard, the Brazilian player indicated: 'There are still many points at stake and we must be very focused and take it one game at a time. At home, we can't give anything away, but we can continue to get three points. Away is where we must improve a lot. We've already achieved good results, and we're capable of getting back to that. We're working hard to achieve it.'
Baptistão was asked about the statement issued by the 'Grada Joven' fans, which calls for everyone to join forces to push the UD Almería team and try to earn promotion.
The player said: 'I'm very happy about this decision and this initiative. For us, it's a plus, something fundamental. The fans and the team have to be together as one. We want to do things well so they're happy and there's good vibes between everyone, because we all want the same thing.'
The willingness of the players, as he emphasised, is absolute, although 'things don't always go the way we want,' he clarified.
On a personal level, he's having a brilliant season. He grabbed 9 goals and 3 assists. He added: 'I feel good and I take good care of myself. I always try to give it my all to the team, which is what's truly important.'
