Pozo: "Our last LaLiga win was against Mallorca last season; let's see if this Sunday we get the first of this one"
The 24-year-old UD Almería right-back states on UDA Radio that Sunday's match is the one. The Sevillian says that they are really eager to win now, especially in front of their fans at the Power Horse Stadium
'Our last win in LaLiga was against RCD Mallorca last season; let's see if this Sunday it's also the first for us in the current campaign,' states Alejando Pozo. The UD Almería player caught up with UDA Radio, the Club's official radio station, when recalling the previous matches played against the islanders. The Rojiblancos have not won a LaLiga game since last 20th May (Matchday 35) in the 2022/23 season. 'We've gone 19 games without adding three points in one go. This is the game,' the Sevillian player stressed, giving the upcoming encounter maximum relevance.
'On Sunday, we have a golden opportunity that we don't want waste; we're really eager to win now, especially in front of our fans. Achieving a victory would give us a boost in the table in addition to proving that we're okay,' he added.
As the right-back emphasised: 'We've improved a lot in recent weeks; we're playing good games and we can compete against any opponents as we demonstrated against Atlético de Madrid last Sunday. We're only struggling to score as easily as we used to do before. The vibes are good, but what we really need is to win.'
The UD Almería player recognised that this situation is difficult, but by no means definitive: 'We don't know what can happen from now on if we start a positive streak. As a result, things will look different. I Anything can happen in football, we're capable of getting through this rough patch and I'd like to ask the fans to have confidence.'
Alejandro Pozo also pointed out: 'We all give it our all in training and in the games and I reckon we deserve a victory; it'd be the fair reward for hard work, although we wouldn't stop being the bottom team after this win, but we'd begin to close the gap.'
Regarding RCD Mallorca, one of the top-tier sides he played for in his footballing career, he said: 'They're great players who will stick to their head coach's style of play with 5 at the back, staying close together and looking for counter-attacks.'
The 24-year-old player has regained his starting spot and is putting in good performances. On that subject, he explained: 'There are times when a footballer needs to be on the bench. I knew that my opportunity will come sooner or later and what I had to do was to take advantage of it. I feel fine, but I know that I can still contribute more.'
