Portillo and Curro Sánchez excited about Almeria’s ambitious project
The two players, presented by Mohamed El Assy, join the Rojiblancos ready to contribute their experience to achieve the goal
Francisco Portillo and Curro Sánchez have expressed their excitement of joining UD Almeria’s ambitious project during their presentation at the Juegos Mediterraneos press room. UD Almeria CEO Mohamed El Assy introduced the two newcomers and stated: ‘They’ve got plenty of experience in Segunda Division. Portillo hasn’t played in the Segunda Division for years, but he’s been playing for teams that have been promoted and he’s also been competing in top tier LaLiga. We’ve been scouting Curro over the last two seasons and he’s put in great performances.’
The first footballer to answer the questions of the media has been the Malaga-born midfielder Francisco Portillo, who has valued the fact of wearing the Rojiblancos shirt as ‘a great challenge.’ ‘What has made me moving here is the desire to play in Primera again and the ambitious project behind to achieve it,’ he stressed.
For his part, Curro stressed that ‘it’s a big step forward’ for him to have reached UD Almeria. That is why he added: ‘To be honest, I needed to take that step and move to a club with such a great project. UD Almería made me feel that I’d be welcome here.’ Meanwhile, he confessed that he’s always seen the Almeria first team playing during these past two campaigns as one of the favourites to be at the top of LaLiga SmartBank table.
