Pepe Mel: 'We must keep it up, keep working and be humble'

The UD Almería head coach was extremely proud of his players, highlighted the positive attitude and fighting spirit shown during the match and added 'we have won the games in which we've kept a clean sheet.'

UD Almería head coach Pepe Mel expressed his post-Vallecano thoughts after the second victory of the season: 'It's an important victory. I firmly believe in the work I do and I took on a team that had not won in 29 match weeks and now we've achieved two victories in 5 games. This obviously helps me believe in what I do.'

The Madrid native also stressed: 'It's been a difficult week after relegation and I was afraid of this match against a team that if we didn't play at high intensity, was going to hurt us a lot, but we knew how to read the match well'

The Rojiblancos' gaffer also appreciated how little explanation there is for the team at the Power Horse Stadium to fail to win and be more successful away from it: 'Away from home we've played three games and we haven't lost any against tough teams, but nevertheless, on home soil, it's being hard for us. It's funny that we've won the games in which we've kept a clean sheet, this is fundamental.'

Given the positive attitude and fighting spirit shown by the Indálicos, truly hopes 'that the team keep up the good work, continue working, be humble and I reiterate that they must enjoy this profession. Today, they've come here for that, they're great footballers. If we had done it like this all season we'd stay up in Primera Division,' he added.

Pepe Mel also sent a message to his countrymen: 'For me Vallecas is special. I'm from Madrid and I feel an immense sense of pride in Rayo's centenary and see the club competing in the top flight. I love the people here and I feel loved too.'
