Pepe Mel: "I want to apologise to all the UD Almería fans"

The Rojiblancos' head coach acknowledged at the post-Getafe press conference the 'big deal' that relegation entailed and highlighted that in the remaining days 'we must be professional.'

'First of all, I take this opportunity to apologise to the UD Almería fans. Things have been bad all year and it's time to apologise for a job poorly done. It's a complicated and difficult day with horrible feelings and devastated people. The least we can do is ask for forgiveness.' This is how Pepe Mel began his post-Getafe press conference, with the Rojiblancos now being a second-tier team.

Regarding the match, the Indálicos' head coach highlighted: 'We played as well as Getafe CF and made mistakes that have condemned the team' and added 'Since I've been here, all the goals have been identical. That takes its toll on you in the Primera Division since the teams do not make things easy.'

The Madrid-based head coach stressed: 'I'm responsible for not having managed to be better in defence, while in attack we've been good with 5 goals in 5 games' and pointed out: 'My obsession was to achieve a clean sheet this week, but there are mistakes to accept.'

Pepe Mel also wanted to emphasize regarding the remaining games: 'We must be professional, there's no other option. There are 5 games left. We knew this was going to happen, but we wanted it not to happen here at home,' he concluded.
