Awaiting news of Chirino after first-half injury

The player had to leave the pitch injured in the first half. He will undergo tests to determine the extent of his injury. García Pimienta hopes to gradually welcome players back from the treatment room, especially with the Spanish Cup now on the horizon

Daijiro Chirino, who started against Real Sociedad 'B' in San Sebastián, had to leave the pitch in the 29th minute of the first half after experiencing discomfort in his ankle. After receiving treatment from the team's medical staff, he continued playing, but shortly afterwards he had to be replaced by Jon Morcillo as he was unable to carry on at the Zubieta Stadium. The player will now undergo tests to establish the full extent of his injury.

Xavier García Pimienta, UD Almería's head coach, is hoping to gradually bring players back from the club's treatment room, particularly with the team soon having to balance  with the Copa del Rey, which gets underway for them on 27 October. The gaffer hopes Chirino's injury is not serious and that he will be available for next Saturday's match against Real Oviedo.

He will also be keeping an eye on Mikel Vesga, who is recovering from an ankle sprain. Vesga was not fit enough to be included in the squad for the trip to San Sebastián, and his condition will now be assessed.

Meanwhile, Gui Guedes, who underwent surgery in August for a torn meniscus, began training with the group towards the end of last week. He could soon receive medical clearance and become available for selection, although he has been sidelined for two months.
